The essentials

A market order prioritizes execution against available liquidity. Its final average price may differ from the displayed quote, especially in fast markets or thin order books.

What to consider

A limit order sets the worst acceptable price. It may rest without filling, fill partially, or execute immediately if marketable. Maker and taker status depends on whether liquidity is added or removed, not just the selected order type.

Put it into practice

Estimate notional value and fees before submitting. Split large orders when appropriate and review open orders before placing another trade.
